Taylor Street
Having occupied their post-war home for a few years, and now with a new baby, my clients knew they needed to create larger, more functional living spaces to make their home suitable for family life.
Keen to preserve the ‘cottage’ appearance of their house, we chose a rear extension expressed as a modern box – making it clear what was original and what was new.
With a glorious tree in the backyard and no rear neighbours we were able to include extensive glazed elements to embrace the surrounding landscape. High-level louvres ensure constant air-flow, and with some clever planning this small footprint accommodates lounge, dining, laundry, large kitchen and scullery areas.
Built-in joinery features means this place is robust to withstand the rigours of small children, as well as creating delightful surfaces for play.
