Kenmore House - Extension and Renovation
As a young family with three growing boys, the clients for the Kenmore House were keen to gain an additional rumpus and guest space for their home without compromising on the existing layout, which already included 4 bedrooms and a master suite. The existing home already had a really functional layout for a family home along with a lovely mid‐century vibe.
The solution was to build up above their existing garage and open breezeway area. The breezeway was internalized into an new entry area for the family. This space contains the stair (complete with storage plinth for sport equipment and shoes), access to front and back yards and allows the kitchen to really open up to become a hub for the home.
The upper level was designed as a multi‐functional space to house rumpus/guest/study/bathroom facilities, and during the build it was decided that the client’s wanted this new space as their own. Now a master suite with beautiful views, the boys are left with the downstairs as their own territory!
