PROCESS

One of the great joys of being an Architect is building relationships with my clients and understanding their homes and lifestyles. So that is where the process begins! Following initial contact from a prospective client, the first step is for us to visit you at your home or project site. We will discuss your dreams, plans and needs for your home, after which we will prepare a fee proposal to suit your project.

Upon acceptance of the proposal, we proceed with one or more of the following stages:

1. Concept Design

Where the fun begins! Based on a client’s brief, we work across a range of media to produce one or more concept designs for your project. We may work through a few iterations before arriving at the final concept.

2. Developed Design

The design becomes ‘real’, with more detail and deeper understanding of the building to really illustrate what the final building would be like.

3. Development Approval

Some projects will require a Council Development Approval. We can guide you through this process and prepare the necessary plans, reports and forms for submission to Council.

4. Building Approval

All building projects will require a Building Approval issued by a Private Building Certifier. This stage of the process generally requires input from other consultants such as Structural Engineers and Energy Efficiency Consultants. We can take care of coordinating the consultants and documents needed for this approval.

5. Construction Documentation and Services

This phase ensures that all aspects of the project are adequately described and illustrated to allow for construction to take place. If necessary, we are able to assist with organising the tender process, selecting your builder, and are available during the construction process for a full contract-administration service, or purely to be ‘on call’ if we are needed.
